To assist in light weighting of electric vehicles by improving the volumetric and gravimetric energy density structural performance battery pack, a modelling methodology based on macro finite element model pouch cell has been developed. This treats core structure as homogeneous orthotropic honeycomb block with material being defined an fabric compressive stress elimination. The considers five compression bending load cases simultaneously allows level discretisation that is computationally efficient appropriate for inclusion full vehicle sub-system simulations. scalable it can be applied to range chemistries, external geometries internal constructions. When considering stacks cells, predictive both lateral three-point bend, but further work required improve confined response.
